Register for Fall Classes
As August rolls around, many families start thinking about the school year ahead. Along with school supplies and new routines comes another important question:
With so many options available—from soccer and gymnastics to dance, martial arts, and music lessons—it can feel overwhelming trying to choose.
As an aerial instructor, you might expect me to say aerial is the answer for everyone. The truth is, it isn't. Every child is different. But after teaching kids of all ages over the years, I've noticed a few things that make the biggest difference when choosing an activity.
The best activity isn't necessarily the one that burns the most calories or wins the most trophies. It's the one your child is genuinely excited to attend each week.
When kids are excited, they naturally become more engaged, more confident, and more willing to work through challenges.
One of my favorite moments is hearing a student walk into class and say, "I've been waiting all week for aerial!"
That's when you know you've found something special.
Parents often tell me they want an activity that helps build confidence.
I agree — and confidence grows one accomplishment at a time.
Sometimes it's climbing a little higher than they did last week.
Sometimes it's finally getting upside down.
Sometimes it's simply trying something that felt scary last class.
Those small victories add up, and before long, students start believing in themselves in ways they didn't before.
Yes, aerial builds strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. But those physical skills are only part of what students gain. They also learn patience, resilience, problem-solving, body awareness, and how to keep trying even when something feels difficult. Those are lessons that carry over into school, sports, and everyday life.
One of the things I love most about aerial is that it truly grows with your child.
Every student begins by learning the fundamentals—building strength, confidence, and body awareness one skill at a time. As they progress, they continue to learn more challenging techniques, discover new ways to move, and develop their own unique style.
What starts with climbing, hanging upside down, and learning a few basic poses can evolve into beautiful sequences, creative choreography, and performing in student showcases.
There is always something new to learn, which keeps students motivated and excited to come back week after week. Whether a student attends for one season or continues for years, aerial provides endless opportunities to build new skills, reach new goals, and celebrate each accomplishment along the way.
One of my favorite things about teaching aerial is that there is no finish line. There is always another skill to master, another challenge to overcome, and another opportunity to grow. That's part of what makes aerial such an incredible lifelong activity.
If your child enjoys climbing, spinning, swinging, dancing, gymnastics, performing, or simply trying something different, aerial might be exactly what they're looking for.
At Cloud 9 Aerial Dance, beginners are always welcome. We teach aerial silks, hammock, lyra, and dance trapeze in a supportive environment where students can safely learn at their own pace.
Whether your child is seeking a new challenge or simply wants to experience the joy of flying, we'd love to welcome them to our studio.
